Iron, Salt, & Smoke: A Day of Appalachian Demos

Step back in time and experience the skills that shaped mountain life. From 11 AM to 4 PM, join us for a day of hands-on demonstrations at the Center for Pioneer Life, featuring traditional blacksmithing with Tod Kershaw, salt-making with Jim Bordwine, and Appalachian cooking with Michael Holland. Whether you're here to learn, watch, or simply soak in the sights and smells of the past—there’s something for everyone in this celebration of Appalachian heritage. Tickets are $10 and include all 3 demonstrations.

We will also be hosting Supper at the Cabin: An Appalachian Evening right after the day of demos. The evening will feature an Appalachian inspired meal, desserts, and beverages.
